Australian Grand Prix About

Westacott announced he was stepping down as CEO after this year’s race after more than 15 years at the AGPC.

“Nothing lasts forever,” he told Speedcafe.com.

“I have been with the company for about 16 and a half years [years].

“I won’t be there for 31 years [F1 will stay in Melbourne for another 15] and I think life is full of challenges.

“Someone said at the beginning of the work that we are all just overseers of this event; it is not owned by individuals, it is owned by Victorians and ultimately Australians.

But the Victorian Government is obviously funding it, so we’ll make sure we’re the custodian and pass it on to the next management team and the next group of people who will end their Grand Firma Prix careers.

When you look at the right moment, now seems like a pretty good time and I can continue it in good shape.

Formula 1 will remain in Melbourne for the next decade, extending its existence for more than four decades.

The Australian Grand Prix is one of the longest-running on the current calendar and Albert Park is becoming one of the most visited.

With the event’s long-term future secured and so few goals to achieve, Westacott makes sense.

However, it is assumed that she will not enter the sunset, but will instead use her knowledge of event planning in a new role.

I’ve always believed that the universal skills and things that work in instrumentation are technically in my DNA,” he explains.

Since 2005, Commonwealth of Melbourne matches have been played in 2006, which saw 18 years of service in sporting events; infrastructure, overlays, provide entertainment for fans.

I think that’s what I’m doing now, pretty well, and that’s going to be the main focus of what I want to do in the future.

Despite facing the last event he is responsible for, Westacott remains focused on making this year’s race and expects to realize it only a few weeks later.

We have a job to do, he said.

It’s really exciting when you’re involved and [are] focused on this job, you’re focused, you’re focused and you’re working with our team at the Grand Prix, with the F1 team, with the teams themselves, and with the focus on the task at hand, you kind of assume it’s your last event… well, you don’t even remember it, it just doesn’t come up in everyday considerations.

It won’t be that much at the time of the event, maybe a month or so after it’s all over for me to realize.

It will be another time,” he added, “but for now, you’re going in event mode, and when you’re in event mode, everyone’s heading for the prize.”

This year’s Australian Grand Prix, round 3 of the 2023 season, runs from March 30 to April 2.
